Maureen is such an amazing and attentive host. We were fortunate enough to meet her family and they are really lovely and warm people. We arrived later and Maureen was kind enough to make us a really tasty lasagna prior to our arrival, as most restaurants were closed. Her husband also makes the most amazing rum punch and I don't actually like rum punch but I liked his.
The house is not near the more tourist areas of the island, so you will need a car or need to master the bus line. I think it's worth getting a car and if you can, pay for extra data and use your GPS. We were able explore the whole island. It was worth it to us to rent a car to explore the island but cherished being able to come back to our own little private oasis after being in the crowds.
Every corner of the island can be reached around 30 min or less by car. We stayed for two weeks and it really began to feel like home. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are clean, and in general, the house just has a good vibe. AC is not needed, as there are wonderfully cool breezes constantly flowing through the house. If I ever return to the island, I would definitely return to Maureen's before considering any place else.
She was always quick to respond to texts and would check in through messages to make sure everything was okay. The view is amazing!!!! As stated, it would be best to rent a car if you are staying here.
We did and were able to explore the whole island. We rented a car, which is a must, to see the other parts of the island but we really enjoyed spending time at the house. We would go back and stay at Ocean Spray in a heartbeat. Our stay at Maureen's place in Cattle Wash was absolutely amazing!
It is located in the middle of one of the most beautiful beaches on the Atlantic side of Barbados. Maureen and Robert did a wonderful job hosting. They made sure that we had everything we could possibly need. Great place to stay in to explore the east coast of Barbados! Maureen was super nice and helped us with anything we needed to know and was there to help whenever we call or text her!
The place is super clean and the neighborhood is very family friendly! Great stay recommended this place for anyone! We loved our stay in this home and on Barbados! If you are looking for the quieter side of the island this is it. The beach goes on-and-on and the landscape is beautiful!
This house is right on the beach in cluster of just a few homes. You can actually live in this adorable home. Typically, thirty minute drive to most west coast sites, twenty minutes to central island activities, and 15 to east coast activities which is much better than the drive for everyone staying on the south coast and in Bridgetown. Highly recommend this house and location, if you like to get out and enjoy the whole island consider a rental car.
The house is wonderful. It is in a beautiful spot on the beach in quiet Cattlewash. Maureen has been a welcoming and attentive host. The house is well equipped, having everything you need, especially the kitchen. We loved spending time out on the deck, great views of the ocean and coastline. We will definitely return! Melissa and Ann were amazing hosts. Ann met us the morning after we arrived to give us the rundown of the house and after realizing we didn't have a car organized one for us AND drove to get us lunch while we waited for the rental car dropoff.
Note- having a car is a good idea, not a whole lot of food or drink within walking distance. And yes, the company Car BB dropoff to you. Also note, car rental places at the airport were closed when we arrived at 3am so if you get the late flight don't bother booking a car at the airport. The house is as pictured- amazing. Particularly the balcony with those amazing views. The neighborhood is quiet and friendly, overall a very relaxing place to getaway.

Thanks Melissa and Ann! This house is absolutely amazing! Everything about it was great and described perfectly on the overview. To our surprise, there was an additional guest bedroom that had just been done so in total 4 bedrooms all of which were decorated beautifully and Melissa and Anne were both very helpful through out our stay and answered every question we had.
Overall, a fantastic experience, the neighborhood is very safe and beautiful - short walk to cattle wash beach and about a 5 min or less drive to Soup Bowls. The game room on the bottom floor is great to play pool or ping pong in and the rooftop dip-in pool was great to jump into if it got too hot. I would highly recommend this place to everyone, and Melissa couldn't have been any more accommodating and helpful. Thanks again, looking forward to the next time we come back to Barbados!

Me and my companions had a great time at Melissa's place. The view was awesome and the house was very spacious and secluded. The house manager, Ann, was extremely helpful and polite throughout the whole process. Would definitely stay here again. This is an amazing home in quiet part of town. Melissa went above and beyond. She arranged for pickup from the airport, helped choose a rental car company, and answered a slew of questions for our group.
Although we were at the end of tourist season, the weather was perfect and we managed to get around the island with little incident rental cars are essential if you hope to see any of the great things this island has to offer. After touring the whole island, we were very happy to be staying in this safe and peaceful neighborhood.
Would def stay here again! The biggest challenge we faced was dinner. The few surrounding restaurants closed before 6pm and we had a hard time feeding 6 people from the local mart. I highly recommend planning meals in advance and making sure you get grocery's because the kitchen was not stocked with anything but salt and tea.
Our first couple nights found us scrambling to come up with something from the freezer of the very small local store. Local fruit and veggie stand was amazing. We loved our 5 nights at Melissa's beautiful home.
We were keen to avoid the touristy west coast and this was absolutely perfect - very quiet and relaxing. The deck is fantastic and the pool is the perfect spot to sit and read and enjoy a drink. The rooms all had great air con so we slept really well. The kitchen is really well appointed so you can do a big food shop and cook all your own meals.
The house is beautifully decorated and feels clean, fresh and new - which isn't a given as many of the homes on the island seem a bit worn. You can't swim at the beach at Cattlewash but the pool made up for it and we hired a car so we did a couple of day trips to the west side so we could enjoy the white sand beaches, snorkeling etc.
There are some great local spots and restaurants where we met friendly locals without feeling packed in with other tourists. Can't recommend Melissa's home enough. Anna's the house keeper helped with check-in and assisted with any questions we had.
We had a wonderful experience staying at Susumuru, a perfect place to get away from the tourists and to relax. The cottage is in a great location opposite the beach with beautiful views from the decking, living room and bedroom. Giselle is a great host making us feel very welcome and also works hard to keep the cottage clean and tidy.
The cottage is as described, spacious and nicely decorated with a lovely garden. As the house is located in Cattlewash expect to drive to stores or places of interest, however it's still only just over half an hour to Bridgetown or the singles de fort morgan al rentals by owner coast. This is a quite area of Barbados, often we were the only people walking on the beach and it's perfect for some quiet time to relax and unwind.

My family and I absolutely loved Giselle's beach house. It is well located in a quiet and scenic coast. It's a perfect base from which to explore the island as it is mid-way to everywhere. The house is equipt with everything you need.
The yard is HUGE with a swimming pool, a volleyball court, benches, and hammocks. Our favorite was the amazing front deck where you can relax and dine while overlooking the ocean, and enjoy the refreshing breeze. The house is spacious and can easily accommodate a big family. She was always just a phone-call away and helped us tremendously during our time there. I cannot say enough good things about her. We will rent this place again when we come back.
Roberts place had a great view and excellent breezes. The location was tucked away and private. He was prompt and helpful in communication and in sorting out questions that came up. Ivy Cot was just as expected, sweet and simple and very comfortable. Communication was easy, and Robert even checked in once to see how things were going.

Carole was there to meet us and show us around. She checked in on us a few times during our stay and provided us with a good list of things to do and see. The house is beautiful and equipped with everything you could need, well decorated and very homely. The views from the verander are incredible especially from the huge hammock that will gently rock you with the fresh sea breeze.
You can even see the monkeys walk by in the morning. The area is quite and peaceful and makes a perfect base to explore the island from, it is best to rent a car as it is a little remote, but that makes it special.
This side of the island is very different to the west coast and it would be a shame if people didn't see it. It's hilly and lush with lots of jungle and some great attractions nearby. We will definitly return. The place was just as described. My girlfriend and I had an amazing time at the treetops. In fact the first day we got there we did not even want to leave the house. We opened up all of the doors to get a great breeze going through the house and then sat on the hammock on the deck and proceeded to read and watch movies while we could hear the waves crashing.
Location was very good becuase we were abe to go to some other places on the eastern side without issue. Just make sure you plan for dinner early in th day. They added some nice welcome touches to our loging like givign us eggs, beer, crackers, etc and so fo that we really appreciated it. Would definitely stay there again. My stay in Bathsheba was perfect, the house was right at the beach and it was a super nice and fun area. I can't wait to go back next year and stay in the same house! It was our fifth rental vacation in Barbados and Beyond was our best experience.
We simply loved it! Cattlewash is the perfect location if you are looking for a quiet, natural beach environment. Beyond is located close enough to the ocean to let you feel, see and hear its powerful presence. However, being tucked away in the hills slightly above sea level and surrounded by trees, it is somewhat protected from the constant salt sprays of the ocean.
Fabio is a wonderful host. He stayed in touch with us even though he was not on the island. He responded right away to our requests in a warm and welcoming way. Eleanor the housekeeper is helpful, friendly and welcoming. She harbors that Caribbean smile and laughter that are so contagious. The house is lovely, very comfortable and well equipped. The living and dining rooms are bright and airy. The large veranda is perfectly furnished to sit and relax or to have meals.

There is a small local shop about 5 mins drive away on the top road above Bathsheba which we used for essentials but we stocked up at a large supermarket before driving over.
We enjoyed our stay so much we hope to return next time we are in Barbados. Fabios home is from a dream, an Italian style villa in a quiet neighborhood on the Atlantic side of Barbados. Communication with Fabio was seamless. I felt well taken care of during my stay as Fabio has a fabulous team on the island helping to keep the property in perfect shape.
As other guests have noted it is important to have a car here, though I much appreciated being away from the hustle of tourist heavy Barbados by saying in this neighborhood.

The house is up on a small hill and within about a 10 minute walk to the beach. Cattlewash beach which is near the house isn't swimmable however so it's something to keep in mind. It was our first time in Barbados and we were the first to rent Beyond so there were some things we wish we knew beforehand.
Something to keep in mind is that the house is about a 45 minute drive from Bridgetown. Since there isn't much around the house in terms of places to get groceries, coffee, etc.
If you're looking for a place that's pretty remote with a lot of privacy this is it, but if you want to be around where most of the beaches and activities are then this might not be the best place for you. The directions call for driving down a road, looking for a rock and going up a hill. Hopefully they'll be updated for the next visitor as there are many roads and rocks in Barbados. We spent a good couple of hours trying to find the place while driving in the dark in the rain.
Lost in a foreign country in the middle of the night with your family in tow wasn't the best way to start our vacation. That being said, when we finally reached the destination it was everything we had imagined it to be. It looks exactly like the pictures, it was clean and communication with Fabio and Kim were great. We would consider staying again now that we know where the house is but most likely will stay somewhere a bit more central.

The Soup bowl was wild with huge crashing waves and unfortunately not surfable for our teenagers who are intermediate level surfers for most of the week we were there. Bathesheba is remote - I would suggest you have a car and access to Hidden by Airbnb maps - the buses do come by frequently too. The views are fantastic and the breeze from the ocean is awesome. Kristine and Ann are great hosts ready to help you with any problems.

She was very pleasant on the telephone and I felt as though I knew her for a long time. The weather was not good the first day, she was concerned that it affected our stay but we enjoyed the rain which gave us time to relax and interact with each other.
We would like to do it again. The beautiful place just right to the ocean. Soup bowls and surfing in 1 minute walk. Amazing dawns every morning. The accommodation is simple, but comfortable. All basic needs are satisfied. Nice view to the beach is included. The place for car parking too. The host is a nice and very helpful person, easy in communication and troubleshooting. Be careful with your techs. The place is ideal for short trips days. For longer trips you need a car to feel comfortable.
Amazing experience with the ocean is guaranteed. Lisa's place was better than expected. It was quiet calm and breezy with sounds of the ocean throughout the house. If you plan to stay a few days and not venture back to the South or West, we would recommend provisioning food prior to arrival on the East coast as Lisa would recommend. The kitchen is set up with utensils. She is a wonderful host and even guided us on an East Coast hiking trip taking time to discuss the environment with our children.
We could not have had a better stay unless it was longer. The best stay of our 3 stop trip. A part of the island that should not be missed unless you are looking for the party. The best views are laid out before you visible from every Website hidden by Airbnb to have a car altho one guest used local transport with no problems.
A bus stop is right outside. The staff are courteous and unimposing. Joanna called in advance to check our transport situation and then emailed directions. Lalique gave us a warm welcome on arrival. Books are provided in the room and a small collection in reception. The club house with honour bar and kitchen and grill for guest to use sits proudly next to the pool.
You will quickly feel at home! The building is 3 stories, the ground floor apartments are yet to be completed. Everything is brand new with full kitchen, king-size bed, spacious living room, and beautiful porch facing the pool and the ocean. The staff is very friendly and incredibly nice and helpful and will clean and change the linens once or twice a week. This part of the island is almost totally empty, no one is on the beach and the sound of the ocean is everywhere.
This location is about 5 km north of Bathsheba, so if you are a serious surfer you are just a min drive from the Soup Bowl and Parler and other east coast breaks. If you stay here definitely have a car, it's about 20 min to Speightstown on the west coast, 50 minutes to the airport, and 45 minutes to Bridgetown, Christ Church, and Oistins.
Driving around Barbados is occasionally a challenge street signs? The only occasionally frustrating thing about this location is that we lost power and water several times during our stay during heavy rains. Make sure you have candles and you'll be fine! Lovely place on the east side of the island. Great and wild beach although swimming is not allowed in the sea due to very strong currents. You should rent a car as supermarkets and restaurants are not close. I would also advise a grocery package. Although told we'd only have cleaning twice a week they actually cleaned and changed towels and bedding each day.
The staff were really friendly and I'd happily recommend to anyone looking for a bit more piece and quiet than you get on the west of the island, which is only a short drive away. The only down side was the roughness of the sea on the west which meant swimming was not really an option.
Very nice location in the beautiful and quite surrounding of the Barbados West coast. The apartments seem to be new and you feel very comfortable there. I would highly recommend a rental car as restaurants etc are a bit far away - but the perfect place for a relaxing holiday far away from mass tourism.
Santosha was a beautiful and peaceful place to stay. We loved using the communal BBQ, and the honour system bar was very convenient for when our own beer ran out. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the cell phone that came with the room was great for contacting local restaurants and our car rental company. A lovely older dog named Lady seems to live on the grounds and joined us on our morning walk on the beach.
However, we only did the walk once due to a seaweed problem that is causing problems all along the east coast. There were not too many mosquitoes, but there was no screens on the windows so we ended up making use of the air conditioning rather than leaving windows open. Contrary to one of the older reviews, the construction is finished. We were in the studio apartment which unfortunately does not have the same majestic view of the water as the other pool side units it is blocked by the pool house.
I had hoped that we might be in one of the upper floor studios shown in the pictures, but in hindsight I understand that the price would have been higher and they were likely not available for our dates. It probably would have been a good idea to ask which apartment we were actually getting.
Nevertheless, the apartment was very clean and similar in styling to the pictures. Our stay at the Beach House surpassed our expectations. Debbie was the most thoughtful and gracious hostess and provided us with a hot meal and groceries upon our arrival after a very long travel day. The house was immaculate, spacious and beautifully laid out.
